Who is BNI
Business Network International (BNI), founded in 1985, is a business and professional networking organization whose primary purpose is to exchange word-of-mouth business referrals among the members. With 1,000 BNI members in Illinois, there are plenty of opportunities to grow your business. Internationally there are thousands of chapters operating on four continents. Members around the globe pass more than one million referrals per year generating hundreds of millions of dollars in new business annually.
What Makes BNI Unique
Exclusivity and challenge. Each chapter allows only one person per profession or business category to join. Once you've joined a chapter, none of your competitors can participate in that chapter. Each week, BNI members learn new ways to generate excellent results for their business through quality referrals and by improving their skills as a personal marketer.
BNI Philosophy: "Givers Gain"
BNI is predicated on the concept of: "What goes around, comes around; if I help you, you'll help me, and we'll both benefit as a result". Members operate as a marketing team. Success in BNI means you need to be a positive and supportive member of your team, committed to your fellow members, and to the philosophy; "Givers Gain". If you want to get quality business you have to give quality business to other business people in you chapter.
BNI Code of Ethics
Our code of ethics is designed to promote positive and supportive teamwork among the membership. We use words like building “good will and trust”, being “truthful with members and their referrals” and “taking responsibility for following up on referrals”.
The Actual Program
If you’ve never been to a BNI meeting, you need to experience one first hand. It’s hard to fully appreciate the development this program has experienced over the past 17 years. Our weekly meetings are very organized, structured and use every bit of the 90 minute time allotment. The BNI policies, procedures and actual meeting agenda were forged through years of actual field experience among tens of thousands of members operating on four continents. By visiting a chapter, you will see only the ‘tip of the BNI iceberg’, but that tip will be impressive.
Detailed Policy, Procedures and Processes
BNI is unlike any other organization. There are similarities to many, but BNI is unique. Admittedly, we want you to experience the program first hand. Let your intuitive powers dictate the direction you need to pursue in terms of marketing your business. Rest assured, the detailed policies, procedures and processes are well developed, tested and in print. In fact, the Policy Brochure given to all members is the ‘constitution’ for our organization.

Give yourself a treat. Visit our chapter as a guest. All of the relevant marketing materials, applications, and supplies will be found at a chapter meeting. Make sure that you bring plenty of business cards with you because, after all, we are a networking organization. Refreshments are available.
